Kirinyaga Teacher Found Dead in Apparent Suicide

According to Mwea-East Police commander Patrick Nyaanga, the body of 51-year-old Danson Kariuki was discovered in Mirera village. Kariuki was a teacher at Urumandi Primary School, located in Murinduko Ward. The police were alerted by residents who found the teacher hanging from a tree.

The news of Kariuki’s death has sent waves of grief throughout the area, especially among his students and fellow educators. Many are struggling to come to terms with the loss, and questions are being raised about the circumstances that may have led to this tragic event.

Local leaders have expressed growing concern over the rise in suicide cases in Kirinyaga County. “The loss of this primary school teacher under such unclear circumstances is deeply saddening. The entire community, including students and educators, is in mourning,” said Muchira.
